World Youth Day  23 youths from our parish will go to Spain for the World Youth Day next month.  Today they will be commissioned out and may our prayers accompany them in this unique experience.

Adult Catechism (RCIA) 2011-2012

 

For inquirers and Catholics preparing for confirmation.

In Cantonese from Sep 14 (every Wednesday) 7-9 p.m.

In English from Sep 15 (every Thursday) at 7-8:30 p.m.

In Mandarin from Sep 17 (every Saturday) 3-5 p.m.

 

PREP Registration for 2011-12 for Grades 1-7 every Wednesday from 7:00 - 8:15 pm.  Classes will begin on Sep 14.  Financial assistance is also available on request. 

 

Legion of Mary  Teenagers from the age of 8 to age of 18 are invited to join our new English Junior praesidium, Mary Mother Most Chaste. Every Wednesday 5:45 - 6:45 p.m.  For more details, please contact Sr. Beatrice Mak at 604-274-4218.

Project Advance

-Parish goal: $168,000, of which $36,800 goes to the Archdiocese and $131,200 for debt repayment and rectory construction.

Revised Mass Text      Catholics throughout the English-speaking Mass begin using a new translation of the Roman Missal Sunday on Nov. 27, 2011, the first Sunday of Advent.  This affects some of the ritual prayers and responses we say at the Mass.  For the latest news and other information, visit the Archdiocesan website www.rcav.org.

 

Parish Community Activities

 

Mandarin Conversation Class   teaching daily speaking skill and vocabulary.  Every Saturday, 1:00-2:00 p.m.  Class resumes on Jul 23 onwards.  Please register in advance at parish office in the morning.

 

Summer Sale Aug 27 (Sat) 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. Lots of merchandise fashion and many more. Come to have fun and enjoy our special food. Rental table available for new items at $25. Register at Info Counter or Parish Office. Donations of new materials are welcome.

 

CM Voice      Jul and Aug issue has been published, please pick up at the Info Counter.

 

Church Etiquette   Before and after Mass, please keep quiet in the church where it is a place of God and prayers.

 

Cross-Cultural Marriages   Presented by Sr. Cecilia Hong, MIC, M.A. counsellor at Catholic Family Services, followed by questions and answers.  We will explore in detail the challenges and blessings of cross-cultural marriages.  Jul 20, 7 pm at St. Mary’s Elementary School, 5239 Joyce Street, Vancouver.  All are welcome.  Fee:  Individual $10; couple $15.  For info or register call 604-443-3220.

Western Canada Chinese Catholic Living Camp (WCCCLC)  This year’s theme is “Tune In to God, Relay His Love”.  It will be held on the Labour Day weekend of Sep 2 - 5 (Fri-Mon) at Camp Charis in Chilliwack.
