Volunteers Appreciation Sunday  "Nobody can do everything, but everyone can do something." Wishing you all a nice summer!

Protecting Life         Last week's B.C. Supreme Court ruling strike down the country's Euthanasia law "sadly reflects a distorted view of equality rights that emphasizes autonomy over human dignity and the value of life," says Archbishop J. Michael Miller.  "True liberty means the freedom to live one's life secure in the knowledge that those who care for us are in dedicated to the service of life, not the taking of life... The result is euthanasia harms not only those who lives are taken, but those responsible for taking them."   It demands that we respond as Catholics. Please contact federal Justice Minister Rob Nicholson and your Member of Parliament, urging that the decision be appealed.  For more info, please go to www.rcav.org.

English Bulletin - 11th Sunday in Ordinary Time

Canadian Martyrs Catholic Church – English Bulletin

Eleventh Sunday in Ordinary Time – June 17, 2012

Pro-Life Sunday

Excerpt from message by Archbishop J. Michael Miller, CSB

1. "Today we are celebrating the vocation of fathers, who are the first and foremost protectors of the family.  This is also Pro-life Sunday when all of us are called to pray about our obligation to safeguard human life from its conception to its natural end.

Of particular concern in our country is the absence of any law that recognizes and protects the rights of unborn Canadians.  We are one of only two countries in the world in which abortion is legal at any time during pregnancy.  Canada needs to reopen the public debate on abortion in Parliament, in the media and in our communities.  Having no law whatsoever is unacceptable in a civilized country.

Therefore, I urge you to make your voices heard in the public square.  I ask you earnestly to support campaigns to promote legal protection for the unborn... Please be generous, "sacrificially generous" in your support of the Pro-life Sunday Second collection.  These monies will help to provide alternatives to abortion, healing to those who have chosen abortion and support for those working to create a culture of life in Canada.?

(Entire message can be read in rcav.org or our bulletin board)

2. The proceeds of the second collection today will go to Richmond Right to Life Society.  Cheques should be made payable to the Society.  Thank you.
