Ash Wednesday (Mar 9)

 

Collection of Palms     The parish is collecting your palm leaves of last year for preparation of ashes. Please put them into the box provided.

 

Mass with Distribution of Ashes at 8:30 am and 7:30 pm (both in English).

 

Day of Fasting and Abstinence   Catholics from age 14 are bound to abstain from meat. Those from 18 years to the beginning of their 60th year are bound to fast i.e. no meat with only one full meal be taken.

 

First Friday Mass & Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament   Mar 4 (Fri).  Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament from 9:00 am to 7:45 pm. Vocations hour at 6 pm, Benediction at 7:45 pm followed by Mass in Cantonese at 8:00 p.m.  Please sign up at the Info Counter. Divine Mercy Devotion at 7:20 pm.  Prayer intentions will be offered in the Mass.

 

Permanent Diaconate   Archbishop Miller has announced the restoration of the permanent deaconate in our archdiocese.  Candidates will attend formation program and age below 65 at the time of ordination.  Information meeting will be held later.  Please keep this in your prayer.

Parish Theme for 2011 (Feb) To Love and To Serve the Lord” 

 

1.    Love is the greatest commandment.  God is the greatest that we can love.  Loving God is then the greatest of the greatest.

2.    Jesus humbles himself to serve.  Are we humble enough to follow Him?

 

May this new year be a year to grow in love of God and to serve Him with our joyful hearts.

Hearts On Fire”    In line with the parish’s 2011 theme “To Love and To Serve the Lord”, the Canadian Martyrs Prayer Community will hold a series of spiritual talks entitled “Hearts on Fire”, wherein FIRE stands for: Faith, Intimacy with God, Repentance and Evangelism. The 1st talk “Faith” will be presented by Fr. Elton Fernandez, S.J. on Feb 12 (Sat) at 7:30 p.m. at the parish hall. Free of charge and everyone is welcome.
