Remembrance of All Souls  November is the month to remember all our departed family members, brothers & sisters and friends.  Please pick the “All Souls Day Remembrance” envelopes and drop into the collection basket during mass or return to parish office. One mass per envelope will be offered except indicated.

 

Clergy Study Week   Fr. Chu will join other priests from Tuesday to Friday for their annual study.  There will be daily morning Mass on Mon & Tue (15th & 16th) and Friday (19th)as usual.  Communion service will be held on Wed & Thu (17th & 18th).  Please keep your priests in your prayer.

 

Christmas Cards    Sending your greetings with religious messages on Christmas card is far better than those without.

 

Project Advance    We are only $5,028 short of our goal.  Have you participated yet?  Please pledge in parish office during office hours.  Every gift makes a difference - every gift counts.

 

Bequest    Our legal title is “Roman Catholic Archbishop of Vancouver as represented by Canadian Martyrs Parish”.

 

Rectory Redevelopment    Structure of the rectory has been framed.   Please keep the project in your prayer and donation is still welcome. 

 

PARISH REGISTRATION   We encourage newcomers and families (especially those with children in our catechism class) to register at our parish. Those who have changed address or telephone number, please update it through Info Counter or Parish Office.

 

Parish Community Activities

Mandarin Conversation Class teaching daily speaking skill and vocabulary.  Every Saturday, 11:30a.m.-12:30p.m. Please register in advance at parish office in the morning.

 

Freedom in Christ        El Shaddai invites all to join their 7th Anniversary Celebration on Nov 20 (Sat) 1:00 - 6:00 p.m. at Canadian Martyrs Parish Hall.  Speaker: Bro Joel Macquillan.

 

Vigil for Life   Archbishop Miller will lead a Vigil for Life on Saturday, Nov 27 at Holy Rosary Cathedral to begin the Advent season with prayers of thanks and protection for human life.  Pope Benedict XVI has asked all the world’s bishops to promote the Vigil for Life during the Advent season and to invite the faithful to pray for the unborn.  The vigil will include Eucharistic adoration and will start at 7:00 p.m.

 

Mass for the University Students     Archbishop J. Michael Miller, CSB, cordially invites all college and university students including faculty to the Mass at Holy Rosary Cathedral on Sunday, Nov 28, at 2:30 p.m.  Confessions will be available at 1:45 p.m. and a reception will follow at Holy Rosary Hall after the Mass.  Visit www.oyyam.com.

 

Question Time with the Archbishop   Join the UBC Catholic Campus Ministry at St. Mark’s College, the Newman Club, the Knights, UBC Korean Catholic and UBC CCO as we grill Archbishop J. Michael Miller again!!  Nov 24 (Wed) at 6:00 p.m.  Hot on the heels of last year’s huge crowd, they invite all students and young adults to join them for a potluck dinner, followed by a  Question and Answer with the Archbishop.  Bring an international dish to share and think up some great questions as we “Dish with the Bish”.

 

End of Life Issues Workshop     Nov 20 (Sat), 9:00 - 12:00 noon at St. Paul’s Parish.   Please see notice board.

 

Real Faith for Real Women”    Nov 20 (Sat) at All Saints Parish Hall in Coquitlam.  This one-day retreat begins with Mass at 9:00 a.m. and wrap-ups at 3:30 p.m.  Also, there is an Evening Cabaret 7:00 - 10:00 p.m., open to men and women.  Tickets are $49 (includes day and evening) or $20 for evening only.  Tickets available at Joyful Noise Bookstore 604-521-4569 or contact Debbie Sergent at 604-220-4520.
