English Bulletin - Epiphany of the Lord

Canadian Martyrs Catholic Church – Church bulletin

Epiphany of the Lord – Jan 8, 2012

“Be an Apostle” - Parish theme for 2012

Do you know the names of the Apostles?

Peter, Andrew, James (son of Zabedee), John, Philip, Bartholomew, Thomas, Matthew, James (son of Alphaeus), Thaddeus, Simon and Judas Iscariot.

Come and See” - With these words, Jesus invited these twelve men to be with Him. Then He made them “apostles”, which means “to send forth”.

The Apostle mandate implies a service that is

1.       Pastoral (“go therefore and make disciples of all nations.”)

2.       Liturgical (“baptizing them”) and

3.       Prophetic (“teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you.”)

Guaranteed by the Lord’s closeness until the end of time (“and lo, I am with you always, to the close of the age.”)                                 ~ Pope Benedict XVI.
