Second Sunday of Easter – April 29, 2011

 

Divine Mercy Sunday

 

A Plenary Indulgence to the faithful for participation in this Feast of Mercy under the following conditions:

-      Sacramental Confession 8 days prior to or after the Feast Day.

-      Offer prayers for the intentions of the Pope.

-      Receive Communion in a state of grace on Divine Mercy Sunday.  Sunday Mass fulfills this obligation.

-      Participate in a special prayer service in honour          of the Divine Mercy on that day or at least recite before the Blessed Sacrament an Our Father, the Creed and a devout prayer to Merciful Jesus “Jesus, I trust in You”.

 

Divine Mercy Devotion will be held at our church at 3:00 p.m. in Cantonese.  All are welcome.

 

Rosary   In the month of May, come to join us in saying the Rosary 20 minutes before Sunday Masses (except 8:15 am).

 

First Friday Mass & Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament on May 6 (Fri).  Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament from 9:00 am to 7:45 pm. Vocations hour at 6 pm, Benediction at 7:45 pm followed by Mass in Cantonese at 8:00 p.m.  Please sign up at the Info Counter. Divine Mercy Devotion at 7:20 pm.  Prayer intentions will be offered in the Mass.

To Love and To Serve the Lord” (May Reflection)

1.    “Do not be afraid; go and tell my brother to go to Galilee; there they will see me.” (Matt. 28: 10)  Would you serve God wherever he calls?

2.    “This is the day the Lord has made; let us rejoice & be glad.”  Love our risen Lord with a joyful heart!

 

Feast of St. Magdalene of Canossa will be held on May 7 (Sat), Mass at 9:30 am, reception to follow.  All Canossian alumnae and parishioners are welcome.

 

Mother’s Day     Special lunch in hall on May 8 (Sun). Tickets are available after Mass.  $16/person.

 

The Great Adventure Bible Study   Congratulations to all participants who completed the 24-week of Bible study.  Hope you continue to explore the mysteries of the Bible.

 

Project Advance    Volunteers are needed to serve from May 15 to Jun 19.  Please register at Info Counter.

 

Source and Summit     We will be hosting a Catholic Christian Outreach's monthly Summit event on May 7 (Sat) starting at 7:30pm. This is a night of Eucharistic adoration along with a live praise and worship band with an opportunity throughout the night to take part in the sacrament of reconciliation. Reception and fellowship with refreshments to follow. Although, primarily a youth's event, all are welcome.

 

Evangelism    The Canadian Martyrs Prayer Group presents “Evangelism”, the last talk of the teaching series entitled “Hearts on Fire”. This spiritual talk will be held on May 14 (Sat) at 7:30 p.m. at the parish hall and will be presented by Ely Bautista from St. Mary’s Parish. This activity is free of charge and everyone is welcome to attend.

 

Jammin’ with Jesus   An evangelistic concert will be held on May 28 (Sat) 7 pm at the parish hall. The concert will feature singers and a live band who will serenade you with contemporary and worship songs while you are sipping coffee and partaking other refreshments. This is a free event and all are welcome.

 

Knights of Columbus is hosting a Golf Tournament at Country Meadows on May 29 for $55/person incl. dinner.  Tee-off time at 11:00 am.  Please contact Michael Wong at 778-834-3333 for details.

 

 

Beatification of Pope John Paul II  A special Eucharistic celebration will be held at the Holy Rosary Cathedral on May 1 (this Sun) at 2:30 p.m. followed by a reception and a display of photos, at Holy Rosary Hall, featuring the life of Pope John Paul II.  All are welcome.  The following link offers a glimpse into the life of Pope John Paul II and his historic visit to Vancouver in 1984: http://www.rcav.org/jp2.

 

Pro-life Mass & Vigil   Peaceful, prayerful vigil for unborn children and their parents.  May 7 (Sat), 9:00 am Mass at St. Bernadette Parish, 6543 - 132nd St., Surrey.  Followed by Rosary at Surrey Memorial Hospital.
