Solemnity of Canadian Martyrs     

Next weekend, we will celebrate our patron saints with special readings in Mass.  Join us for refreshment after Mass at the hall.

 

ROSARY  

October is the month of the Rosary.  You are invited to say Rosary together. Please come 25 minutes before every Sunday Masses (except 8:15 a.m.).

 

Bishops' Collection for the Needs of the Church in Canada   

The annual  collection will be held next weekend (Sep 24-25). The monies raised will be sent to our Archdiocese, which will use these revenues to help pay its annual contribution to the Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops (CCCB).  Thank you for your generosity.

 

Learning our Catholic Faith

 

Adult Catechism (RCIA) 2011-2012

For inquirers and Catholics preparing for confirmation.

In Cantonese (every Wednesday) 7-9 p.m.

In English (every Thursday) at 7-8:30 p.m.

In Mandarin (every Saturday) 3-5 p.m.

Classes have started, please register as soon as possible.

PREP for 2011-12  

Classes for Grades 1-7 every Wednesday from 7:00 - 8:15 pm have started, please register as soon as possible.

Let's Live our Faith!       

All secondary school students are encouraged to attend our parish youth faith formation program (YFFP).  Registrations are still being accepted, please register as soon as possible.

 

"We are the World"

 A celebration of our diversity  The Catholic Women's League invites all to join an evening of food, music & entertainment on Oct 1 (Sat) 6:30 pm - 10:00 pm in the Parish Hall. Ticket $25 are available after Mass.  All funds raised will go to the Parish Rectory Reconstruction, Seminarian Fund and Charities (local and global).

 

Liturgy of Word for Children   

will resume this Sunday.  Parents are encouraged to send their children to this liturgy service during Mass.

 

Serving the Lord   

Altar Server must have received First Communion and in Grade 4 or up.  A Minister of Hospitality must be confirmed.  Leave your name, telephone number and email address at the Info Counter or the Parish Office.  Training will be provided.  Serve the Lord and fulfill your Sunday obligation at the same time.

 

Project Advance   

311 families have participated it.  How about you?  It is never too late nor too little.  Every gift counts.  Go online www.rcav.org.  Pledge up  to date : $148,509 (88.4%).

 

iDisciple   

The Canadian Martyrs Prayer Community invites all parishioners to attend a presentation on being an "iDisciple" on Sep 24 (Sat) at 7:30 p.m. at the main parish hall.  Our speaker is Patrick Gillespie, Director of the Office of Evangelization for the Archdiocese of Vancouver.  This activity is free of charge and everyone is welcome to attend.

Theology of the Body     

It is about Pope John Paul II's teaching on love, life and human sexuality.  Fr. Alan Boisclair will present an 11-week course starting Sep 20 (Tue) at Precious Blood Parish, Sep 21 (Wed) at St. Catherine School and Sep 22 (Thu) at St. Bernadette Parish.  Cost $50 includes text book.  Visit www.rcav.org/tob.

 

Marian Movement of Priests Regional Cenacle

Legislation was enacted on Sep 1 governing advance care planning in BC.  The Catholic Health Association of BC has developed a planning resource specifically for Catholics.  It is available from CHABC by calling 604-524-3427 or by sending an email request to smhouse@shawlink.ca.
